Learn to show a given number as a product of its prime factors.
Teacher Synopsis
Reactivate prior knowledge of factors and prime numbers.
Every number greater than 1 is either prime or composite
"Composite" means 'made up of various parts'.
Composite numbers are 'made up' of prime factors
Demo: numbers 2-15 (30 seconds)
Factor tree (18). Grade 7+ (Ontario) expectation of exponential notation is shown as a bonus item, a way to make it REALLY tidy. No reason why you can't do it before grade 7, it's not hard if you think about it like this.
Factor tree (48) includes exponential notation of repeated factors.
